Ingredients
DRY INGREDIENTS
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teas. baking soda
3/4 teas. salt
WET INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 teas. vanilla
1 egg
Directions
Mix dry ingredients in bowl and set aside.
Cream together wet ingredients and stir in dry ingredients from above.
Blend in 1 tablespoon milk and use up to 2 tablespoons if needed.
Roll mixture into balls with hands and add to greased pan and cook 9-10 min. depending on size of cookie at 375 degrees.
If using colored sugar for decor, press down on top of balls and sprinkle on cookies before putting in oven. These are very good with buttercream icing, but are good enough to eat plain. The baked size of the cookie is very close to its size when placed in the oven.
No rolling pin or cookie cutters needed to make these cookies as described above.
